  ING Center Faculty Awards  
  The ING center faculty has received the following financial awards for conducting research:  
$14,100 from Marketing Science Institute, 2007-08 for the research on " Effect of Marketing Strategy on Financial Performance"
Winner of $100,000 from ISBM/MSI for 2006 ISBM Academic Practioner Challenge Chicago August , 2006.
$40,000 from ISBM for winning the 2006 ISBM Academic - Practioner Proposal Competition
$10,000 from the Marketing Science Institute, 2005-2006 for the research on "Interaction Orientation"
$7,300 from the Tera Data Center for Customer Relationship Management at Duke University, 2003-2004, for the research on “Targeting the Right Products to the Right Customers at the Right Time”
  $16,000 from the Marketing Science Institute, 2002-2003, for the research on “Improving Marketing Productivity: Knowing When to Sell What to Whom?”.  
  $10,000 from the Tera Data Center for Customer Relationship Management at Duke University, 2001-2002, for the research on “Integrated Marketing Strategies for Maximizing Customer Equity.”  
  $ 5,000 from the Institute for the Study of Business Markets, Penn State University (2002) for the research on “Integrated Marketing Strategies for Maximizing Customer Equity.”  
     
  ING Center Faculty Recognition  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the 2007 AMA Strategy SIG Mahajan Award for Lifetime Contribution to Marketing Strategy in Washington D.C. in August 2007.  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the 2007 AMA IOSIG Lifetime Contribution Award to Interorganizational Issues in Washington D.C. in August 2007.  
  Dr. Kumar is the finalist for the 2007 ISMS Practice Prize in The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania in October 2007  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the Graduate Teaching Excellence Award in University of Connecticut in 2007.  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the Best Paper " Honorable Mention Award" in University of Connecticut in 2007.  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award in MBA Program in University of Connecticut in 2007.  
Dr. Kumar is the winner of $100,000 ISBM/MSI Academic Practitioner Challenge in Chicago in August 2006.
Dr. Kumar is invited as a Faculty Scholar to the 2006 American Marketing Association's Doctoral Consortium in University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
Dr. Kumar is the finalist for 2006 ISMS Practice Prize in Pittsburgh in June 2006.
Dr. Kumar is the runner-up for the Best Paper Award in Journal of Interactive Marketing in 2006.
  Dr. Kumar is the winner of the MSI/Paul H Root Award (second time in 3 years) for the paper published in Journal of Marketing that best contributes to the Practice of Marketing.     
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the 2005 Don Lehmann Award (second time) for the Best Paper published in the Journal of Marketing / Journal of Marketing Research in a 2-year period, 2003 - 2004. The paper’s title is “A Customer Lifetime Value Framework for Customer Selections and Resource Allocation Strategy”.  
  Dr. Kumar is the recipient of the 2002 Don Lehmann Award for the Best Paper published in the Journal of Marketing / Journal of Marketing Research over the years, 2000 and 2001. The paper’s title is “On the Profitability of Long Life Customers: An Empirical Investigation and Implications for Marketing”.  
  Dr. Kumar was also the recipient of the 2003 MSI/Paul H Root Award for the paper published in Journal of Marketing that best contributes to the Practice of Marketing. The paper’s title is “"The Impact of Customer Relationship Characteristics on Profitable Lifetime Duration”.        
  Dr. V. Kumar won the Best Paper Award, School of Business, University of Connecticut, for the year 2002 – 2003 for the article titled "The Impact of Customer Relationship Characteristics on Profitable Lifetime Duration,” which appeared in the Journal of Marketing, January 2003.  
  Dr. Kumar was also the recipient of the prestigious Research Excellence Award, School of Business, University of Connecticut, 2002 – 2003 for his work that was published in scholarly journals over the last five years.  
  Dr. Kumar was invited to be one of the keynote speakers at the recently held conference on Customer Loyalty and Profitability by the well-known 'Conference Board’ in New York City, May 2003 (typically, only high-ranking executives from corporations are invited as speakers at the conference).
